the Senator grew up today, america's got cabin fever, and i win!

as a result of another storm approaching (more like 'here'), the Senator and I of course needed to run to the grocer to replenish. let me just say that i'm sure we've all (we've meaning Americans) been in the house too long, i'll share why i a second. anyway, while we were in line a woman walks past with a huge box of Ramen noodles a.k.a oodles of noodles (if you still don't know, find a college kid and inquire). just as she passes i mention to the Senator that we had not bought any and that maybe we should. his response would whisk me away to cloud 9. he scrunched his face and eyebrows and said "no! ya know, every time things get hard or we're snowed in or run out of food, we always buy dorm room food and nothing to really sustain us. do you know how much sodium is in those things? i could get high blood pressure.... (here it comes) i want you to cook."

side bar: the Senator just went out for a couple of things we forgot (ketchup and potatoes) {don't judge me} he calls:
him-"hi"
me-"hi"
my thoughts- he's crashed and we're screwed... please God don't let it be true
him-"multiple near death experiences" breathing heavy in a frantic type of tone
me-"are you okay?"
him-"yes"
me-"is the car okay?" (i ask because not too long ago he drove mt car into a ditch... will show picture later)
him-"yes"
he ended up okay, but just called back to say that he forgot his wallet and wont be getting anything, so he's coming home and WILL NOT BE GOING BACK OUT... i'm not angry, i'm kind of surprised he went out in the first place.

back to the story: I was so elated... i felt like i had accomplished some small victory and poked my chest out, held my head high and processed my food in the self-check out line with pride... you don't understand, I always knew i could do a little something (spaghetti, baked chicken, toast, sometimes) but nothing else... I've always had the worst times trying to do things in the kitchen. Velta if you're reading this, you're digging me right now. not to mention that i have no credibility when it comes to cooking for the Senator's family... so today was a BIG DEAL to say the least.

now, why i believe America's been in the house too long: so that you can get the full idea... the Sen. and i walked in the store at 9:17am this morning.. we got in line at at 9:27 (which gave me ample time to make it to my W.E.L.L group at 10:30 which was literally just around the corner, so i thought). the line was all the way down the cereal isle. so we got in for what we knew would be a long wait. it didn't take but an hour and fifteen minutes... i got to self checkout at 10:15am and just as i was putting my coupons in... the system shut down. after much hesitation i turned around to the gentlemen behind me and sweetly said " i just need you to know that i didn't do anything it shut down by it self" his response: "you're good, no worries (loosely translated)"
see what i mean... something like that would have started a riot if it were the first of the month when everyone goes shopping and when i try not to.... i was relieved...

alright, i'm heading upstairs to do a little more work and relax... probably more of the later. happy snowpocolypse (sp?) .... be safe in this mess

happy snuggling tonight ;)
