when the senator's away....

the senator's wife will play, notsomuch. last night was not bad at all. i had rehearsal then went to eat at Uno's, if you have never tried the shrimp & crab fondue, shame on you! it's amazing!! i got home around 11 last night and hit the sack hard. i also had some wings and they are over seasoned and made me a bit nauseous.... (ummmm :/)

i started reading my new book this morning while waiting for the shuttle. two very interesting points thus far:

#1. when you discover your talents, you discover your calling (what God wants you to do with you life)
Funny story: my BIL is a professional gambler, he's proud. Anyway, a few Christmases ago my MIL bought him this book. it's about being the best you can be, changing your life, etc. he comes back and says "...ma, i love this book, from now on, i'm going to be the best gambler ever". honest to God, true story! just goes to show you,... well i don't really know what it shows you, i just thought i was funny.
#2. you will be most successful in whatever you do by building your life around your greatest natural abilities.
i know the basis of this book, however like my BIL who lives his life to gamble (let me just say he's a wonderful person and does very well and many things, this is just his choice right now), does this statement stand true for anything?
prostitutes: ".. i'm gonna sell as more a** this year, PROMISE!"
strippers: "..just wait til i get my new boobs, i'm hitting all the big spenders"
thieves: "..this year i know the earth is smiling on me, black man for president, if he can do it so can i, #1 robber!".

please don't take any offense to either of these. i'm totally sensitive to these "lifestyle" choices. my point is, check your heart before reading books that talk about being the best you can be. my concern is the way we can so easily misinterpret the message, which is CHANGE!
