we wore all black, the senator's idea, he hosted and i served the guests. it was a nice touch for a 50th birthday party. our client wanted it to be special, so in our initial consultation, we suggested a restaurant theme, for a more controlled setting. we arrived about 2:45pm to what seemed like chaos. nothing had been done, the tables had not even been set up. since we came in on the tail end, we didn't have much say. but you know me?!... or maybe you don't. anyhoo, i went in and voiced my opinion anyhow. all i knew was, our client was frazzled and she needed sound advice, not wavering advice. decisions needed to be made and we were the ones to do it. after about 45 minutes to an hour of set-up time and preparation, we finally got things underway. the third party advisor left and the senator and i were left to do our job(s). with some much needed help from friends and family, we set the table center pieces up like this: minus the candied almonds on the side, and the extra mirrors ( it was just one mirror)

the guest of honor really seemed to enjoy the evening... an opportunity to eat some really great food.
