OMG! Light Bulb...

Everyday my friend LF sends me a women's devotional via e-mail. They are usually on point... I'll say 9.5 times out of 10 it's exactly what I need to hear. For those of you who don't know, the boy and I are youth workers in our church. We teach youth bible study and are involved with pretty much any and everything involving the youth, who I have just decided to refer to as "the impression-ables" from now on. The burden I have for them is great and the call on my life regarding them is greater. This past weekend we had a lock-In for them at The Land (church).... let me fix this really quick. It wasn't just us it was my pastor, my new girl J, the boy, and I. okay... we hosted a forum where we gave them a stream of topics and had them anonymously write on index cards questions/comments in response to those comments... (the boy's idea, he's so wonderful) The outcome was so wonderful and along with it came a much needed slap in the face... for us. I don't know if anyone else felt it, but we (the church) are not reaching the impression-ables. My generation's threshold for sin is not the same as theirs. In-fact, I'm wondering if they even have one. Anyway, check out an insert from this devotional.

Do you have the impression that the next generation is not interested in
hearing about the things of the Lord? We sometimes feel the divide is so
great that we simply stay in our familiar circles far removed from
theirs. Sometimes our own judgments even keep us from seeing past the
earrings and tattoos. Yet there is a deep growing hunger in our youth
for spiritual understanding and they are seeking answers that we, who
have walked with the Lord and have experienced His faithfulness, have to
offer.

As a result, a ministry has been created a teen hot line that allowed teens to e-mail christian mentors to talk about their lives. The unction came to sign up, but I thought "I need to begin at home first".

So, I am.... :-)
